Carol and Erik are passionate about the nature of their Weingut Riffel Pinot Gris. They manage 16 hectares of vineyards in a biodynamic manner in Bingen am Rhein. Their top locations include the legendary Scharlachberg with Katharinenzins. They believe firmly in bio-dynamic principles because they want to preserve the planet earth for our children. The more soil activity with earthworms and micro-organisms, the healthier and better aerated the soil is. The vines appreciate this and thrive better. The more different plants , flowers and herbs grow in the vineyard, the more diverse the animal and insect world develops . This is good for the environment and perfect for their wine!
Grauer Burgunder, or Pinot Gris, is a grape typically grown in the Rheinhessen wine region. A lovely combination of lemon and fleshy peach flavours combined with a waft of almond meal which is typical to Pinot Grigio. Definitely worth giving Weingut Riffel a try. We also sell their organic Dornfelder and Pinot Blanc.
Pair with: Pan fried cod and green beans. Poached chicken will also work well.
This wine is the 2019 vintage and is a standard 75cl bottle size.

An amazing and unique wine. I had no idea this was made from the Pinot Grigio grape – it was so complex! As well as fresh citrus flavours, this wine had a slightly fuller body giving it a lovely mouthfeel. I could definitely taste an element of coconut in this wine which I enjoyed. I will definitely be buying this again.
